Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 28, 2009 — Nan Desu Kan (NDK), Denver’s premier anime convention, will return Sept. 11-13 to host its 13th annual celebration of Japanese animation, music and culture. Fans from around the world will gather at the Marriott Denver Tech Center, along with actors, musical artists and industry insiders from Japan and across North America.

Japanese animation, also known as anime, originated in 1917. In recent years, anime productions have received Academy Awards, influenced the hottest Hollywood features and reached nationwide audiences on American television. For 13 years Nan Desu Kan, the largest anime convention in the region, has brought the excitement of Japanese animation to the Mile High City.

“This event is so much more than just a love of anime–it’s an evolving community. I love how this event brings people together in a positive way,” says Amanda Liebermann, NDK Executive Director.

This year NDK continues its tradition of bringing acclaimed guests directly to the fans, including industry veterans Robert and Emily DeJesus (Studio Capsule), Jason and Heather Martin (ArtPlayMix.com) and Jan Scott-Frasier, as well as voice actors Aaron Dismuke (Fullmetal Alchemist, Trinity Blood), Todd Haberkorn (Claymore, Suzuka), Kyle Hebert (Bleach, Naruto, Dragonball Z), Michael McConnohie (Disgaea, Transformers, World of Warcraft), Melodee Spevack (Digimon, Ergo Proxy, Star Trek: Enterprise) and Wendy Powell (Case Closed, One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist). In addition, The Robotech Convention Tour returns with Tommy Yune and Steve Yun.

Since 2000, NDK has sponsored a charity auction with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to a select organization. All proceeds from this year’s auction will go to Child’s Play, which has raised more than $5 million in toys and cash for hospitals around the world. Previous worthy recipients have included the Japan America Society of Colorado, American Red Cross, Susan G. Komen Foundation, and the American Diabetes Association.

More than $25,000 has been donated over the past four years.
