Hollywood Theater and "UP" Movie Review

Posted on 08 June 2009 by movies

While my husband I were in Topeka, Kansas, we went to see the movie UP after the races on Saturday. We thought about seeing Star Trek or Angels and Demons, but we didn’t because we didn’t want to wait three and a half hours and pay $9.25 per person to see either of these movies.

My husband wanted to see UP since he started seeing the previews for it. To be frank, I wanted to see this movie too. We watched it at a fifteen screen movie theater called Hollywood Theater just off of North Wannamacher Road.

The movie theater was huge as far as a building goes. The screen UP was playing on was larger than other theaters we had been in. It had as much seating for the size of the rooms as smaller theaters near where we live.

UP is a must see movie for the whole family. The animated movie was cute and hilarious. If you don’t like animated cartoon type of movies, I would suggest you rethink seeing one with this movie.

The show started out like most showing you the main characters. While it took you through their lives within the first several minutes, you would need to know this information to grasp the rest of the movie.

You will want to pay attention to this part of the movie because there are bits and pieces that pop up through out the rest of the movie. If you don’t see the references at the first part of the movie, you could become as lost as the characters became in certain parts of it. Not that I am giving anything away here.

UP can take you on an adventure through the eyes of the characters in the movie. The adventure is something that many of us would have like to have done when we were kids. Heck, even a few adults have tried doing some of the things in this movie with success. I won’t be telling you what things that came to mind with some of the scenes in the movie. You are just going to have to watch the movie to find out which things I am referencing.

UP is a movie that all ages, whether you have kids to take or not, would like. It will tickle your funny bone, make you cry, and yell hurray for the underdog. If you fellers don’t want to cry, that’s fine too. You can cover the tears from the sad parts by the laughing you will do in between.

If you feel funny about being an adult watching UPwithout taking a kid, borrow one for the afternoon and go see this movie. I’m sure there’s some parent you know wouldn’t mind lending you a kid or five to go see this movie.
